The organizer of Riga Fashion Week, the Baltic Fashion Federation, has announced the dates for the 34th Riga Fashion Week. The events of the Latvian fashion industry main event will be held from May 27 to June 2, the main shows of which will take place at the premises of Hanzas Perons. This season, RFW’s leitmotif will be digital fashion, which not only Fashion Week guests can immerse themselves in, but also visitors to the Spice mall.
As an image for the upcoming Riga Fashion Week, the organizers chose a digital work with a 3D avatar, which was created during the first wave of the pandemic, when it was not possible to hold a photo shoot in because of the epidemiological restrictions imposed. During this time, this visual has lost none of its relevance. Also, in light of recent political events around the world, it seems very symbolic.
“The fashion industry is constantly changing and offering more and more unexpected directions. The most interesting of these lately is the creation of virtual costumes that you can try on by simply pressing a few buttons on your phone wearable. Six months ago, it seemed to us that digital collections were a distant future, but already now it’s something that is accessible to everyone. We want to draw attention to this during the next Fashion Week”, said Elena Strakhova, President of the Baltic Fashion Federation.
Olga Kolotova (author of the idea and stylist), Silvija Rudzinska (3D design) and Oleg Zernov (editing and image processing) worked on creating the image for the 34th Riga Fashion Week. “When setting up the project, we were guided by the main fashion trends that will be relevant for several more years. Now, digital fashion is a field of experimentation and creativity. So far, there is little commercial component in this environment, but in the future everything can change drastically. It is possible that digital collections will replace physical collections, ”adds stylist Olga Kolotova.
