Fernando Rapallini Yes Tello Faculty have been confirmed by the Fifa to lead the Qatar 2022 World Cup, while Mauro Vigliano will be a member of the VAR in football’s highest test.

Today, the FIFA Referees Committee announced the lists of names of referees selected for the World Cup which includes 36 referees, 69 assistant referees and 24 Video Match Officials (VAR).

Massimo Busacca, FIFA Refereeing Director, assures that the referees will receive all the necessary support from FIFA, as their preparation is paramount.

Three women referees, for the first time in a World Cup

For the first time in the history of the FIFA World Cup, the Referees Committee of FIFA has also appointed three female referees and three assistant referees.

They are: Stéphanie Frappart (France), Salima Mukansanga (Rwanda) and Yoshimi Yamashita (Japan). Meanwhile, assistant referees Neuza Back (Brazil), Karen Díaz Medina (Mexico) and Kathryn Nesbitt (USA) have also been selected.

“We are very happy to appoint female referees for the first time in the history of a FIFA World Cup. This concludes a long process that began several years ago.
