With the “chavinha” facing the Copa Sudamericana, Santos will play this Wednesday, at 21:30 (Brasilia time), the first leg of the round of 16 against Deportivo Táchira, at the Polideportivo de Pueblo Nuevo stadium, in San Cristobal, Venezuela. Throughout its history, the record is very good against teams from that country.

Santos have not lost since they first faced a Venezuelan team in 1959. So far there have been 11 matches, with eight wins and three draws between friendlies and Copa Libertadores. There are 25 goals scored and nine conceded.

The main duels were valid for the Libertadores, when the Santos team faced Caracas, in 2007, and Deportivo Táchira himself, in 2011, in the victorious campaign to conquer the Tri da América. After 10 years, Peixe is back to face a Venezuelan team, Deportivo Lara, for the 2021 edition of the competition, for the second preliminary round.
