The Santos board is in the last few talks to define the loan of defender Robson Reis, 22, to Boavista, a club in Portugal’s first division. Virtually everything has been sorted out this weekend, only the medical examinations are missing, which will take place in Porto between this Wednesday and Thursday. After that, the activity will be official, which must be performed.
Robson Reis had already received polls from European clubs – such as Rio Ave and Arouca, also Portuguese – and from the North American League (MLS) earlier in the season. Avai, América-MG and Vasco also came to Brazilian football to look for the defender on loan.
In February of this year the defender practically settled for Galatasaray from Turkey. However, he ended up not being permanently transferred to the Turkish club, as it was necessary to open a place for a foreign athlete.
The defender switched to Santos professional side in the middle of last season and wanted more opportunities. However, he was not put to the test by Argentine manager Fabián Bustos, who has used Maicon, Eduardo Bauermann, Emiliano Velázquez and Kaiky in the role since he was hired in late February.
Robson Reis had steps in the basic categories of clubs within the San Paolo and arrived at Santos in 2019 in talks with Vocem, from Assis (SP), initially to integrate the under 20 category. He was also used in the defunct team under 23.
For Santos, the defender has played 12 games and has a contract until January 31, 2024. He made his debut in February 2021, again under the command of Ariel Holan, in the first round of Campeonato Paulista against Santo André. He had new opportunities in the same year, with Fernando Diniz and Fábio Carille, but in 2022 he did not enter the field and was included for a few games.
