The moving average of infections continues to grow across the country
Italy recorded 56,166 more cases and 75 deaths from Covid-19, bringing the number of infections to 18,071,634 and the number of victims of the pandemic in the country to 167,967, according to the bulletin of the Ministry of Health this Thursday (23) .
The numbers continue to indicate the increase in average daily infections, which reached 41,468, 125% more than on the same day last week. The amount is the highest for one day from May 8th.
The average number of deaths remains stable, reaching 50, two more than Wednesday (22), but 14% lower than the same day a week ago.
The bulletin indicated a sharp increase in the number of people in home isolation (mild or asymptomatic cases), from 619.850 to 647.292, and in people requiring medical hospitalization, from 4.947 to 5.064.
The most serious infections, which required hospitalization in intensive care (ICU), were at the same level as Wednesday, at 216.
In total, 248,042 tests were performed in 24 hours to detect the disease, with 22.6% positive, a percentage slightly higher than the previous day, when it was 21.8%. .
